Practice Management & Billing
SimplePractice – This is my #1 choice for EHR for private practice.
Ivy Pay – I prefer to do all billing through SimplePractice, but if you need a simple payment processor, Ivy Pay is the most affordable way to go.
Insurance Billing for Private Practice* – Kym Tolson knows all there is to know about insurance billing and is my trusted advisor when I have a question. Her courses and membership community are rock solid and full of value.
Business Management
Google Workspace – I LOVE Google Workspace for easy email, calendar and document storage/management. Plus, it seamlessly integrates with almost any platform.
PandaDoc – This is my preferred site for sending out agreements and documents requiring a digital signature. Free plan available.
Gusto – If you hire 1099s or employees, this is my preferred site for handling HR and payroll.
Project + Task Management
Asana – This is the project management tool I use in my own business keep track of projects and tasks. I love how easy it is to switch between calendar, board and list views. My preferred option for teams. Free plan available.
Trello – Consider this your digital sticky note board. Free plan available.
ToDoist – A simple to-do list that integrates easily with your Gmail account. Free plan available.
Communication
Slack – If you have a team, this is a great way to communicate with one another. It integrates with most other apps in this list. Free plan available.
Voxer – I love using this to send voice notes and messages without having to make a call or use my personal number. Free plan available.
Google Voice – A simple, affordable phone option that is great for a solo practice as a way to have a professional number.
Phone.com – My preferred digital phone service for practices with more than one clinician. It is HIPAA compliant, easy to use and offers a great price point for the features.
Finances
Profit First Simplified* – Profit First will change everything about how you manage money in your practice. This course will walk you through each step of implementing PF in your practice.
Profit First for Therapists – For those who read, this book was released in 2023 and is the version specifically for therapists.
Simple Profit for Mental Health Clinicians – Jenni Schotmiller is your friendly neighborhood therapist and CPA who has amazing services and a membership to support with all of your tax, finance and bookkeeping questions and needs.
Wave – This is an amazing accounting software that is FREE. You also have access to a free online bank account if you need one.
Quickbooks Online – One of the most reputable, trusted accounting softwares on the market.
Belcru Finance Co – Danielle is a Quickbooks Certified bookkeeper who specializes in managing finances for private practices. Tell her Vanessa sent you.
Prospect Financial Solutions – Having a trustworthy tax professional is worth the investment. This is who I use for my own taxes and I trust them implicitly. Schedule with John and tell him Vanessa Lawson sent you.
Marketing
Get Booked Out! Modern Marketing for Therapists & Counselors – Anna Walker is my go-to expert for all things copywriting, website and PT profiles. Her FB group is top notch and she provides courses, done-for-you website services and DIY templates.
Intensive Design Lab – Steffeny Feld, LCSW is the intensive queen! Her course will provide you with everything you need to get started marketing intensives for your practice.
Social Media Management – Christi Balfour is my AMAZING social media manager. If you are looking for Social Media Management for your practice, I highly recommend her!
MailerLite* – If you are ready to start building your email list, this is my go-to platform for getting started. It’s user-friendly AND the only platform that allows you to create email automations on their free plan. Free plan available.
30 Days to Unlock Your SEO – Just getting started with SEO and want to make organic traffic work for you? Desiree walks you through simple steps to get your Google Analytics account created and provides a foundation for utilizing SEO for your practice.
Gifting
Thnks – This is my new favorite gifting site that even allows you to send gift cards to local coffee shops and restaurants!
SugarWish – I LOVE to receive a SugarWish! This site lets recipients choose from a list preselected goodies.
SendOut Cards – Let’s you send a customized, paper card without going to the store or picking up stamps. You can even add a small gift.
Legal
Bobby Klinck – Bobby is THE online legal guy. His templates are fantastic and affordable, especially if you are branching out into other revenue streams beyond the 1:1 therapy session. You can also grab a FREE Privacy Policy for your website from him HERE.
